From the "This struck me funny" department": Seems as if the good folks at the California State Fair have recently judged the mass produced (read... CHEAP) Chardonnay The Best: In the California State Fair Commercial Wine Competition and adorned the $2.00 bottle with a gleaming gold medal!
The California Chardonnay is produced by Charles Shaw and sold exclusively by Trader Joe's. The wine label is owned Fred Franzia, a distant relative on the Gallo family: So is reported on the CBS web site.
ABC News also reported on the finer qualities of "Chuck".
I wonder what Thurston Howell, III (remember Gilligan's Island?) would have to say about Chuck? I can just see the upper echelon of the wine community questioning their "sources" as to why they just forked over several hundred dollars for a second rate wine. Or, going on a bottle bashing rampage in their cellars.
Needless to say, in the realm of "Fairness" there were IMMEDIATE third party "Wine Tastings" where Chucky Baby didn't quite rank as well. Vindication??
Geez Folks! It's just Grape Juice that's been allowed to rot for a few years! Weeks?
Now, what will really tweak my jowls is if Consumer Digest decides the most recent sedan from Kia Motors is a better buy than my Volvo S80! I think I'd cry... Because I don't HAVE a Volvo S80!
