The Blog

The Blog at Johnhouston's, also known as Below the Fold...
This is Version 2.0 and a work in progress.

Here you'll find, in plain-spoken language; opinions (mine), flat-out facts and solutions as I see them.  All in an easy to read format.

A Spade is a Spade here and no sugar is allowed nor used.

How about a mountain top in Montana or some beach front property in Key West. There's a new kid in town that can help just about anyone who happens to be seriously searching for a new place to call home.

HOCAPA.com... The New Way To Search For Real Property

HOCAPA.com launched their new web site today, November 18, 2007 along with an incredibly exciting and new way for people on the move to search for real estate within the United States.

No longer will people in search of the perfect house, the larger apartment or condo, or the rancher looking for a bigger spread or the business man wondering just how on Earth he's going to find time to search for a larger office have to spend hour upon hour searching a myriad of real estate web site or thousands of dollars traveling to their "Target City" to search for "Home".

Not only is HOCAPA.com a Godsend for real estate purchasers... It's a bona fide miracle for Agents, Brokers and Agencies as well!

And all this wrapped up in a package that's so simple!

The Buyer simply lists their real estate needs, wishes or wants: FREE OF CHARGE at HOCAPA.com and only legitimate real estate professionals from all over the United States will do the searching for the buyer. There is a fee for agent access.

So what makes HOCAPA.com different? The Buyer lists their property needs ANONYMOUSLY! Agent's may not contact prospective buyers until that buyer grants permission for the agent to contact them. All the while, the Agent's contact information is Always Visible! How Cool Is That!

A buyer's listing is visible to all registered Agencies and Agents for 45 days. The internal HOCAPA.com messaging system allows the Buyer to contact the Agent. The Agent may then respond to the buyer's queries using the same system. Again, the buyer is known only to the Agent as a Buyer ID Number. No Email.

When a buyer finds that perfect plot, he or she may THEN allow the Agent to view their contact information OR, the BUYER may contact the Agent at any time using the Agent's email address, telephone number or any their contact information.

HOCAPA.com does not send out mail box clogging email alerts, there's nothing for sale on the site other than the Agent's registration fee, no advertising from ANYONE. HOCAPA.com is totally unbiased and dedicated to bringing the buyer and real estate professional together.

From the "This struck me funny" department": Seems as if the good folks at the California State Fair have recently judged the mass produced (read... CHEAP) Chardonnay The Best: In the California State Fair Commercial Wine Competition and adorned the $2.00 bottle with a gleaming gold medal!

Stolen From ABC News

The California Chardonnay is produced by Charles Shaw and sold exclusively by Trader Joe's. The wine label is owned Fred Franzia, a distant relative on the Gallo family: So is reported on the CBS web site.

ABC News also reported on the finer qualities of "Chuck".

I wonder what Thurston Howell, III (remember Gilligan's Island?) would have to say about Chuck? I can just see the upper echelon of the wine community questioning their "sources" as to why they just forked over several hundred dollars for a second rate wine. Or, going on a bottle bashing rampage in their cellars.

Needless to say, in the realm of "Fairness" there were IMMEDIATE third party "Wine Tastings" where Chucky Baby didn't quite rank as well. Vindication??

Geez Folks! It's just Grape Juice that's been allowed to rot for a few years! Weeks?

Now, what will really tweak my jowls is if Consumer Digest decides the most recent sedan from Kia Motors is a better buy than my Volvo S80! I think I'd cry... Because I don't HAVE a Volvo S80!

... And you Knew there was something different here. Something missing. Something just not right.

Yep, it's the absence of the ever present Google Ads, Yahoo ads and MSN ads... Advertisements in general! Now you see just how much web site real estate those advertisements take up on your screen.

You can now read an opinion, story or whatever and not have something blinking within your peripheral vision. What a Novel Idea!

No, I'm not against the advertisements. In fact if someone actually wanted to purchase an advertisement here, I'd more than likely sell it to them. However, I doubt seriously that will ever happen. I don't have the million hits per day folks are wanting and I'm damned picky as to whom I'd even consider sharing MY real estate with.

I also find it somewhat bothersome to think that Company A would Willingly advertise Company B on their web site. I just don't understand the rationale there and it happens on just about every web site that uses Google, Yahoo or MSN advertising as "content". Content? Tells me that that site doesn't HAVE any content.

In the end I'll advertise my own products... Now go buy something from my store!
